Our memories are filled with the things we saw, did, tasted, heard, sensed, touched, dreamed of or thought. It may be our nature to dwell on past times of sadness and regret, letting a gray pallor of bitter thoughts settle over us – things we wish had never happened, or been avoided altogether if only we had known.
But then there are the rest; the memories that bring us joy, that make us see the world through the eyes of the children we were and hopefully still are. If we open our minds and think about our time on this planet and focus on that part of life that is good, then even on our worst days good stuff happens – our lives are quite literally filled with good stuff.
We are complex and subtle creatures you and I; our inner thoughts drifting like glinting motes in the darkness between our dreams. Pay attention, observe, listen, reach out in wonder. There you will find the good things in life, just where you left them and where they, like old friends, remain.
Prepare to be surprised.
